About Counselling
Counselling is a form of 'talking therapy'. It comes in many forms. The service I offer is called person-centred therapy (PCT). This is a collaborative process and is about believing that you are naturally inclined to grow and improve towards your full potential. This kind of counselling holds three core conditions for growth at its heart: acceptance, genuineness & empathy.
Often we have a desire to talk but concern about who to share our thoughts with. Choosing to talk with a counsellor means choosing to explore what's going on for us with someone different who is 'one step removed' enough that we can see our world through fresh eyes and ears.
Coming to counselling for the first time can feel daunting. That step is the first to better understanding why you find yourself at whatever point you are at in life. Forming a trusting connection with your therapist helps healing and growth. I hope to offer you the core conditions and the safety needed so that we may work through whatever brings you to me.
The therapy is tailored to the individual, and where they want to get to, so the number of sessions should reflect those needs.

In the first consultation we’ll discuss how best to proceed and how many sessions you feel you may need. Please know that you are allowed to change your mind.
